Our 
Story

Makers for ME is an online community for creative individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of people living ME.  The initiative was founded by someone with ME who discovered that creative outlets and volunteering were powerful ways to cope.  

Inspired by their own experience of living with ME, recognizing a need for more awareness and support for people with ME, and wanting to create a space for others facing similar challenges, they started Makers For Community—a community where people can come together to create, connect, and fundraise for causes that support people with ME.

Makers For ME is ultimately about finding strength through creativity and community, and making a meaningful difference for the ME community.

Why We Need More Support and Awareness for People Living with ME

  • Misdiagnosis and Delays: Many people with ME face years of misdiagnosis before receiving proper care. The symptoms overlap with other conditions, and some healthcare professionals still dismiss ME as "just fatigue" or "in your head." This lack of recognition delays critical treatment and support.

  • Social Stigma: Because ME is an invisible illness, others may not understand the severity of the condition. People with ME may be accused of being lazy, exaggerating, or not trying hard enough to "push through." This can cause deep emotional distress and self-doubt.
